Read more→Inspiration
This project was inspired by a lineage of artists who saw something more in Google's automated archive. Jon Rafman's Nine Eyes of Google Street View, Doug Rickard's A New American Picture, Michael Wolf's A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Jacqui Kenny's The Agoraphobic Traveller. Each finding meaning in imagery that was never meant to be art.
The Idea
Street Lens attempts to create global connections by exposing people to parts of the world they may never have a chance to visit in reality. It then offers tools to capture their view of the location. By allowing people to explore the locations where images were composed, Street Lens creates a direct connection between the original eye of the capturer and the viewer.
